ABOUT:
I love geometry and old cut diamonds and this one presents both with four old mine cut diamonds surrounding a center, slightly larger old mine which creates a cruciform pattern. Total carat weight is around 1.6 carats. Cruciform rings are always fun and interesting in a ringstack but this one has the advantage of a sort of domed height to it with open work cutouts making it interesting to view from the side. Great geometry with the square bezels holding each old mine cut diamond.
Found in Paris, this French antique piece is hallmarked and crafted in platinum with a goldsmith/ maker's stamp as well.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 5 1/2. It weighs 7grams.
The ring face is 14.5mm north south 15.5mm east west, and stands 6.5mm off the finger.
The largest center diamond is 4.5mm and each of the four surrounding are about 4.2mm. I would never remove the stones from the antique setting for an exact measurement but estimates to around 1.6 Carat total weight in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
One of the stones, the largest, has some small carbon speck inclusions that are slightly eye visible. The others have faint natural inclusions typical for antique stones but are mostly eye clean with the little wisps seen under magnification. One has a small chip to the girdle, slightly eye visible, and another has an unpolished side facet which appears to be just how the stone was cut.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
