ABOUT:
I love the geometry of a cruciform ring and this one has such a glorious pop of color with the ruby at center! It is a vibrant fuchsia pink at center, flanked on all sides by the soft sparkle of the old mine cut diamonds. The ruby is certainly synthetic as was a very popular choice for the period. All the same properties of a natural ruby but manmade (it is not glass.). These were all the rage during this period because they were such a ground breaking invention for the time and the results produce the color and clarity so sought after.
Beautiful to wear and really pops in a ring stack. I got this one in Belgium. No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm. The prongs are excellent so this one is in really nice condition for age and ready for regular wear.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
A snug size 5 3/4. It weighs 3.4 grams.
The ring face is 15.5mm north south and 5mm off the finger.
The diamonds are 2.7 to 2.8mm each. The ruby is about 7.8mm in diameter.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The ruby is in better than most condition considering age with very few abrasions and a glorious color, sheen and polish. The diamonds have a bit of frost here and there but they are small and just meant to add sparkle. Some catchy edges when dragging across the finger so I wouldn't sleep in it ; ) , evidently just how it was made.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
