CRUCIFORM Purple AMETHYST Antique Five Stone Stacker Georgian Era Ring Ornate Shoulders 14k Gold and Silver Vermeil

This Georgian era piece has a striking color and geometric footprint with beautiful embossed shoulders displaying a variety of flowers. At the center are five purple amethysts in a cruciform setting, set in closed back collets. I thought the piece was all gold until I studied it further and noticed the shoulders of the ring leading back to the back of the shank have areas of silver. After testing it we discovered that the ring face is in 14k gold, and there is a sizing that was done at the back, also in 14k gold, but the embossed details and the rest of the shank are crafted in silver with gold vermeil / plating. Some of this has worn on the sides of the ring from making contact with the adjacent finger, revealing the silver underneath but the inside of the shank remains gold washed so it was just how the piece was fabricated. But while wearing the ring race still appears as gold and when it was sized it was done with gold added to the back as well. So that affects the price in a positive way for the buyer, making this 200 year old piece at a lower price point than if it were solid gold. Really wonderful lavender color to the stones. The floral detail at the shoulders is wonderful.

Found in England, no hallmarks remain.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

Size 8 3/4
Ring face: 13mm north south, the stones are about 3./5mm each.
Weight: 2.3g.

CONDITION NOTES:

See above notes about wear to the vermeil, on one side especially you can see the layers of wear as seen in pic. Some nicks and scuffs to the little gems but a nice coloring.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
