ABOUT:
Amazingly glowing Victoria era long guard chain, originally likely held a watch or chatelaine item but makes a beautiful and unique layering chain. Found in France, this gorgeous piece is crafted in rich 18k gold with oval chain links. It is accented with intermittent gold cubes and faceted yellow gold balls. Such a wonderful color and glow not to be found on modern made gold pieces.
This one does not open to stretch end to end but can be worn single and long, or doubled and shorter in your neckmess / neckstack, still slipping over the head. When doubled, you can use the spring ring to clasp to itself, thereby able to adjust the chain to equal lengths or draped, or short and long, etc. Or you can wear it doubled with the spring ring facing down to swap out pendants. I can also wear it wrapped quadruple around the wrist as a shimmering multi chain bracelet. Please note the measurements though as we all come in wonderfully different shapes and sizes.
French control hallmarks for 18k gold used on the spring ring and two others on the loop for 18k gold. The chain links display a rich and warm antique yellow gold, while the ornaments have a slightly rosier patina, overall well matching but perhaps the slightest intended contrast.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 17 grams.
Stretched end to end doubled it is a little over 27 inches. It's about 53 inches of linear chain all together (but does not open to stretch end to end as the spring ring serves as a pendant holder or to connect to itself through the chain.)
The chain links are a little over 2.5mm wide.

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Perfect rich antique patina and beautiful glow - No dings or dents, a gorgeous Victorian chain offered in excellent condition.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
