A very special combination of two highly popular ring styles - the five stone band & the curb chain ring.
These popular curb chain rings are always sought after, making interesting stackers and adding the fabulous, flexible chain texture to the finger. This is the first I've seen an antique curb chain ring that has a gem setting across the face. Super unique and uncommon with a quality fabrication in 18k gold and silver. The silver topped ring face is fixed to curve atop the finger with alternating old mine cut diamonds and rubies in open backed silver bezels. The bezels are backed in gold as was customary for the period to prevent tarnish against the finger, but to set the diamonds in a white metal topped setting - really an excellent fabrication. The setting then extends to the glowing and flexible curb links which extend all the way around the back of the ring.
Stacks perfectly adding such a unique accent to a ringstack. I love looking at it from the side to see the lofty crown of the center old mine cut diamond cropping out of the tall silver bezels. And with the lovely pop of color from the rubies.
Found in Paris, no hallmarks that I could find but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm. I'll be wearing this one in the daily stack until it sells and will be so happy if she doesn't - tee hee!
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/2 on the mandrel but seems to fit more snugly than that, the way the chain links comfortably hold the finger - closer to a size 6 it seems.
Ring face is 4.7mm north south and 4.4mm tall to the crown of the center diamond. The curb chain is 4.2mm north south and 1.7mm deep.
Weight: 4.5g.
CONDITION NOTES:
Some nicks and nibbles to the rubies. Some wear to the bezels leaving a few gaps under magnification from the edges of the stones but all the stones are still well surrounded and secure. Still a sturdy piece with wonderful fabrication. Typical antique diamonds with some faint frosty inclusions and slight warmth as often found for the period. A special one and still so on trend for age of 100 years.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
