Dainty Antique Old Mine Cut MARQUISE Diamond CLASP Pendant Platinum 18k Gold French Edwardian Parts Finding Omc

ABOUT:

Sparkly diamond clasp pendant set with a marquise shaped old mine cut diamond in a collet setting. These old ornate clasps are hard to come by as this is a salvaged antique one and not a modern reproduction. These make excellent pendants, where you can attached a chain to each side, wear it to the front, side or back, or hang it from one end on a chain so it dangles down. Ornate and sparkly. Always fun to find old cut diamonds in shapes outside of round!

Functions perfectly with sturdy fabrication, the clasp has great tension with the tongue insert securing with a snap.

Dainty! Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

Found in France with their hallmark for platinum on the back and 18k gold on the tongue. The tongue insert is yellow gold but while wearing, ut appears as all white gold.

MEASUREMENTS:
Very dainty.
13mm end to end by 4.2mm wide and 3.7mm deep. It weighs just 1.1 gram. Diamond is 7.4x3.2mm just measuring the exposed portion, widening an unknown amount in the collet. Depth and exact weight is unknown as I would not remove the stone.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Note the small loops, they are teeny tiny on each end so a very small gauge jump ring or dainty link chain would need to be used to incorporate it.

The diamond reads warm especially on one side where there is brown deterioration to the closed back setting, probably from moisture. Some additional cloudy spotting from age to the closed back but the one side is where you see the worst of it. No damage or chips, etc.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
