ABOUT:

Wonderful 18k gold French antique daisy cluster pendant featuring a center open backed old mine cut diamond in a bezel surrounded by a halo of 8 rose cut diamonds in closed collet settings.

This came to me as broken earring that I had converted to a pendant so the fixed loop is later. And now it is indeed a lovely little pendant, bright and sparkly with a slight warm hue to the a few of the smaller stones from age to the closed back but at the same time a really reflective sparkle. Faces up at almost a carat (actual carat weight is unknown / less due to the rose cuts with flat backs and unknown depths). Fun to have the mix of two types of antique cutting styles on one piece.

We see plenty of newly made clusters with old cut stones but this is an actual antique component. This is a fun one as a minimalist pendant, a bracelet charm, on a chain with other pendants as shown, or on separate chains in a neckmess. Fun to style many different ways.

No hallmarks remain but I purchased it in France as a broken dormeuse and the standard there is 18k, it was marked on the earring parts and tested to confirm.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person. They are always smaller in real life than they appear in photos due to the zoom photos I am required to show.

Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included.

MEASUREMENTS:

Height including jump ring: 16.5mm
Width: 9.9mm
Depth 6.6mm
Weight: 1.6 grams.
Carat weight cannot be determined because of the closed back settings, depth cannot be determined without removing the stones which I would never do.
The outlining stones are 2.6 to 3mm each. The center stone is about 4.2mm in diameter and about .3 carat. Face up value of the piece if compared with brilliant cut diamonds, this one wears at jus under one carat total weight in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Signs on the underside of the conversion you can see some smoothing and discoloration to the lattice filigree work underneath the face of the pendant, some smoothed solder and interruption to the pattern. This openwork detail angles inward underneath the ring face so the diamonds cover over it when the piece is facing up. This wear and altering is seen when you turn the piece to the side and not really evident when wearing.

Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions. The center stone is eye clean with just a few speck inclusions under strong magnification. There is some slightly eye visible carbon spotting to two or 3 of the rose cuts but again not glaring at all while wearing. There are some cloudy and warm spots from age to the foil backing of the rose cuts. Some wear to the collet settings but none of the stones move, although we do not advise 24/7 wear on these 150 year old pieces as they should not get wet. Some wear to the center bezel as well where the gold is uneven and there are interruptions to it but the stone is still well held.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
