DATED 12/3 1930 Old Mine Single Cut Diamond Half Hoop PLATINUM Vintage Art Deco Stacker Skinny Wedding Band Engraved

ABOUT:

Love these antique wedding bands! And this one is a true half hoop with little old cut diamonds all the way across the top half to the adjacent fingers, to give a glint of glitter!

The ring has engravings all over - it's dated and engraved on the inside, and then the north and south edges also have engraved wheat pattern designs all the way around both edges of the shank. Even the back outside of the shank was engraved at one time, although it is mostly worn now. I can't recall a time that I have seen a half hoop but with the vertical edge engravings going all the way around when it wasn't a full eternity. A cool little detail!

The diamonds are old single cut diamonds, old mine cuts with the 8-cut faceting and little open culets.
Inside is a lovely provenance to have with the piece. It reads:
"MC to FL (at least I think so, sometimes the cursive capitals in fancy script can look similar to eachother.) with the date 12/3/30

Crafted in platinum with the "Plat" stamp inside.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

north south measurement: 2.5mm and the diamonds are set within so they are very small.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some wear to the ring face where the platinum bead prongs have kind of softened to make the diamonds almost appear flush mounted, nested into the ring face.

Under magnification the diamonds are frosty, some from how they were cut with frosted girdles reflecting around, some from build up within the setting since the openings at the back are so small, so they tend to read a bit gray but they are small so they just add a glint of old cut sparkle across the top. Despite the bead prongs being worn, every stone is well surrounded so this is actually a quite sturdy one for age.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
