DATED 1906 Antique Eye Clean .65 Carat FIERY Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Solitaire Ring 14k Gold Engagement
ABOUT:
Classic and elegant diamond solitaire ring with a .65 carat old mine cut diamond that is eye clean! Adding to that, it displays a nice fire making this a special old cut stone. It's always fun to find special diamonds but the highlight for me on this piece is the provenance. It is personalized inside:
"E.M.O to E.F.M - Feb 1906"
Minimalist 14k gold pronged setting in excellent shape making this one ready for daily wear with no damage to the stone - the condition report on this one is certainly clean, again sought after considering age.
No hallmarks remain, tests at 14k gold.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and the pictures can make it difficult to see scale. Antique box is not included.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5. Should not be a problem to size since the prongs are excellent and the engraving ends at the middle so it could be sized to the vacant side without removing the provenance. Usually 2 sizes is the acceptable guide.
The diamond is about 5.2mm. I purchased it from an estate jeweler who estimated it at about 2/3 carat - .65 carat (without removing the stone.)
The piece weighs a little over 1.65 grams. It stands 5.8mm off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
As can be uncommon for antique diamonds, it is eye clean and very bright and fiery. The elegant shank is very sturdy. No worn prongs so the diamond does not budge. It is ready for daily wear. Just a few tiny nibbles to the girdle, nothing eye visible. Surface wear to the gold expected for age but this is a fine piece in excellent condition considering age.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
