ABOUT:
This one has the most beautiful movement with the whiplash swirling designs encircling the large oval ring face. A very fine example of French antique Belle Epoque jewelry, the 18k gold with a satin texture, just beautiful fabrication. The large ring face which is about 1 inch north to south is set with two old mine cut diamonds alternating with the three creamy, natural fine pearls, with a little bezel set rose cut diamond on each end. The stones are also set in a graceful wave for a rich antique sparkle but it's the setting that has me swooning.
Found in Paris. Sturdy shank with the diamond prongs in excellent shape. French hallmark for 18k gold and platinum (as the diamonds are set in platinum prongs / bezels).
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 7 1/4
Weight: a sturdy 6.15 grams
Ring face north south: 26mm
And east west measurement: 10mm
Height off finger: 5.6mm
The two larger diamonds are each about 3.3mm with the two rose cuts at 2mm. The largest pearl is about 4.7mm in diameter.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamond prongs are excellent. I can see a little adhesive residue around the base of the pearls when I study it under magnification only, nothing eye visible - this appears to be its originally fabrication and is customary for the time so it is not a condition issue. Very special setting.
Typical antique diamonds with a tiny frosty spot here or there, nothing eye visible. The only thing seen is a little bit of build up behind the hard to reach backs of the diamonds. I don't like soaking pearl jewelry so I just gave it a light cleaning.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
