Double Band Pink Ruby Blue Tourmaline Rose Cut DIAMOND Two Twin Victorian Antique 18k Gold Ring Stacker French
Double Band Pink Ruby Blue Tourmaline Rose Cut DIAMOND Two Twin Victorian Antique 18k Gold Ring Stacker French
ABOUT:
Another two for one! A gorgeous antique sparkle and two tone color. This double band makes a great stacker, adding the striking color from the two gemstones alternating with the winking foil backed rose cut diamonds. I love to see the alternate shapes of the rose cuts - some more pear, others more triangular and others more oval in shape.
Unlike my double diamond band that was two different rings connected together, this piece is one where the two bands were most likely purchased together to be connected. While they have different colored gems, they each have the same fabrication with a design reminiscent of a buckle motif at the shoulders. So I assume the wearer purchased both at around the same time in the Victorian era, having them connected permanently to wear as a stack. It may have even been a wedding set where one was betrothal and the other a wedding band.
The gemstones are set in open back settings where the diamonds are foiled in closed back settings. I assume looking at the vibrant color that the gemstones are synthetic, a popular choice for the period.
Found in France. No hallmarks remain which is actually common for French pieces as they are marked in the back and often lost during a sizing or from wear. And we know these two were soldered / connected at the back. But sold to me from a reputable source in France where the standard is 18k and tested to confirm. The shank has rosy hues from age and patina.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 5 1/2
Weight: 4.15
Ring face north south measurement: 10mm with the two connected.
Height off the finger: 4.5mm
The stones each measure 3 to 4mm each - The six diamonds have nicely domed crowns totaling at least a half a carat. This is an estimation as I would not remove the stones from the setting for exact measurements.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical for foil backed settings of this age, there is some spotting and fogginess to the foil but not a lot of muddiness or brown rust. None of the diamonds have any chips or damage.
Some nicks and chips with shallow shards of loss to the blue stones around a top outside edge here or there, but they all appear complete and round in the settings.
Some wear to the cupped foiled diamond settings
This one needs a bit gentler wear, as you should avoid getting it wet with the foiled back.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
