ABOUT:
Dramatic and extra sparkly with 40 transitional and single cut diamonds winking back at the beholder. Each earring is set with 18 bezel set single & brilliant cut diamonds in a line, with each bezel connected by loop to the next one, allowing each to move independently to dangle and catch the light. These lead down to the .6 carat larger transitional cut diamond in an illusion setting to make the stone appear larger. The latch back settings also have a bezel set diamond in a circular bezel and frame in front of the ear post.
A great geometric look with the line of circles - perfect to dress up or down. The extra length adds a lot of sparkle and drama.
They have a chain at the back of each connecting the ear post setting down to the lowest largest diamond. I do not know if this is a design element or if it serves some purpose to make them dangle just so? It seems to me they would dangle fine without the chain so it could likely be removed if desired but this is how they came to me.
Found in Paris with the French hallmarks for 18k gold and platinum.
Antique box / props not included. I put it in a regular box to try to show scale for how long they are! Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
From the top to bottom of each earring is a little over 7omm for dangle length. The pair weighs 11.25 grams combined.
The largest diamonds at the bottom of each earring are about 5.3mm in diameter and measure approximately .6 & .65 carat each. The top single cuts at each ear are 3mm / .1ct each. Each earring holds 18 additional single cuts measuring about 2.5mm each. I would not remove the stones from the settings but estimated total carat weight is about 3.6 carats.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. One of the lever backs is not springy and is loose but the ends of each ear post are hooked so once they are nested into the catch, it is secure. The other has a bit more spring and tension and also latches securely into the catch. If after multiple occasions of opening and closing as you wear them over time, it doesn't seem to latch as securely, a slight tweak to the ear post can line it up to catch more snugly into the slot. (We do this at home, but a jeweler could also manage this if desired. Because of this evidence of age, we reduced our margins as we would have listed them for higher if they were extra springy. Again with the catch at the back though holding them closed, they are safe to wear.
None of the diamonds are damaged although a few have some natural inclusions that carry up to the surface. These are the smallest stones and it's on the outside edges so it is really not seen unless you really study them under strong magnification. Some small natural inclusions, the most noticeable to one of the larger stones, where the inclusions are tiny specks but are numerous to reflect around the stone. A small handful of other smaller stones also appear a bit frosty under magnification but they are not dull or lifeless in any way. Each of the other diamonds are small so there is nothing eye visible and no dark carbon or glaring spots.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
