Eye Clean One Carat Antique Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Bezel Set Solitaire Pendant French Vintage Necklace 18k Gold Snake Chain

This is a versatile layering chain in the style of "diamonds by the yard." A French vintage piece, the 18k gold snake chain is holding an antique stone - a one carat old mine cut diamond that is bezel set with a nice geometry. This was probably a case of someone re-setting an old family stone - repurposing granny's diamond to a different piece at a later date. Resulting in this timeless classic! She gives the antique vibe with the old cut stone, but is ready for regular wear in excellent condition. As an added bonus, the nice size diamond is eye clean!

The diamond bezel setting is in white gold and slides along the circular tube chain with snake like movement. I love that it can add to a yellow or white gold or silver or platinum neckmess because of the two tone fabrication. Also great that they made the bezel white gold because it serves as an illusion setting to make the white diamond appear even larger.

Found in France with their hallmarks for 18k gold on the loop and lobster claw clasp.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The diamond is about 6.8mm and a little over one carat - this is an estimate as I would not remove it for exact weight and I can't get exact measurements in the bezel.

The chain is 16 3/4 inches in length.
The pendant in bezel setting is 8mm in diameter and 4.2mm deep off the decollette.
Weight: 6.5g
The chain gauge is 1.5mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The diamond is eye clean with no damage, even under magnification I don't see any inclusions. Set very sturdily in the chunky bezel. Just a ripple here or there to the chain as it is a pre-owned piece but beautiful shimmer and movement to the chain and a nice white sparkle to the diamond.

Note the pendant does not appear to be removable without breaking the chain.  The end of the loop is soldered and doesn't fit through the bezel.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
