ABOUT:
You know I love my diamonds with hues! And this older vintage piece offers that and more! The two diamonds are transitional cuts, the latest and greatest (at the time) in cutting methods from the 1920s through the 1940s. They are held tall in prongs and angled, able to catch the light and sparkle. The stones have a wonderful light brown cognac color. We often see colored diamonds set in white gold settings to accent them but this one is in the ever popular yellow gold.
Each stone measures over half a carat for a total diamond weight of 1 carat of gorgeous color and sparkle.
French hallmark for 18k gold with another worn stamp.
Adding to its desirability, the prongs are in excellent shape which we love to find on preowned jewelry, making this beauty ready for regular wear.
The color of the stones seems to vary from room to room, reading a golden cognac in most light, richening up to a darker brown in some light and a more honey colored light brown in sunlight. Beautiful stones!
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 5 3/4
Weight: 2.6 grams
Height off finger: 7mm.
Each stone is about 5mm and weighs over half a carat each.
Estimated total carat weight just over 1 carat. I do not remove stones from their settings for exact measurements so this is an estimate.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The piece has chunky prongs but two have pulled away slightly on one stone. It is well held and not going anywhere, just something I saw under magnification.
Typical vintage diamonds with natural inclusions, one indented natural and some frosty spots along with some carbon specks. The hues of the diamonds do help mask some of this. It is also worth noting it can be more common to find inclusions in colored stones due to how they were formed in the earth, the chemical structure of the stone causing the coloring can also cause said inclusions. With fancy color diamonds, color is the dominant value factor. Diamond clarity does not add as much value in fancy-colored diamonds because the diamond’s color is the most sought after feature.
Very sturdy setting, lots of sparkle, unique piece!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
