ABOUT:
I typically go for older diamond pieces with old cut stones, but I Love this one for the colored diamonds. Diamonds with hues are always so interesting to me, so when I saw this gorgeous sparkly diamond eternity tennis necklace with the mix of richly colored Fancy diamonds, I thought it would be a fun one to bring to the shop.
This vintage piece contains 182 natural diamonds in varying "Fancy Intense" hues of deep yellow, yellowish orange and greenish yellow. These diamonds are rare and sought-after, making up less than 1% of the world's total diamond production.
The necklace comes with a certificate from the IGI (International Gemological Institute). As I found the piece in France and there is no GIA there, this one was evaluated at IGI at one of their locations in Europe.
As is customary, the colored diamonds are set in white gold to provide contrast against the fancy yellow hues of the stones. It is sturdy and ready to wear with two safety clips, one on each side of the clasp at the back. As it was fund in Europe, it has the numerical hallmarking system used there on each side of the clasp, in this case 585 which is the mark for 14k gold.
Shorter in size, so please note the measurements as we all come in wonderfully different shapes and sizes. It is a fabulous one to layer, with really any color neckmess as the yellow diamonds look beautiful with yellow gold, or it can be worn with white gold, silver and platinum to provide the pop of color. It is quite eye catching to wear alone as well with the sparkly color circling all the way around the neck. So fun!
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
Chain is about 15 inches long stretched end to end, measuring the end of the clasp to the beginning of the tongue insert which gets nested inside.
Each diamond is about 1.9mm with the certificate stating 4.69 carats give or take as the piece was evaluated without removing the stones for exact carat weight.
The diamonds set the chain measures about 2.2mm wide and deep off the decollette.
The piece weighs 12.4 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note the colors in various lighting conditions. More photos can be found on my website. It really lights up in the sun with the vibrant color and sparkle, displaying more warmth in ambient light.
Comes with the IGI certificate that it came with. The certificate verifies the Fancy Intense hues and states the diamonds as SI to I in clarity as is often found in diamonds with rich hues. The diamonds are small and the vibrant color masks anything glaring so the clarity report seems a bit of a throw away but I always provide any info I have.
Completely functional, the clasp works really well to click shut with the added safety clips. A bit of surface wear if anything but no damage. It looks perfect in my opinion.
But of course as it is preowned I always leave a disclaimer - Due to age, this is not a mint condition / brand new item.
