ABOUT:
Awesome French antique 18k solid gold long guard chain. The fist is holding a swiveling bracket that holds a sturdy dog clip with a screw bolt to secure it closed. Makes an excellent pendant or locket holder for your neckmess or neckstack.
NOTE - there was a gray area in one spot when I photographed it. Silly me! It was just adhesive, like from a sticker and cleared right away. So there are no solder marks, repairs, no damage of any kind. No punctures or holes to the hollow fist either which these often have from the age to the gold work.
I have one of these in my personal collection that I wear constantly. The fist is so interesting and it can be styled in so many different ways. I did an instagram post on how these can be styled to hold pendants, or worn with the fist to the side or even as a bracelet. Feel free to request pics to see its many options. One could also add a decorative gemset slide (or multiple slides) to the chain for additional elements. I have a few listed separately.
The chain has liquid snake movement and a wonderful shimmer, shine and buttery patina that just glows.
Note that it does not have a clasp anywhere to open it, it is the type you would slip over the head.
French antique hallmark for 18k on the dog clip and again on the bracket of the fist.
Antique boxes, pendants / displays in photos are not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs a sturdy 23 grams. Stretched end to end doubled it's about 27 inches from the slide to the end of the dog clip. It is about 51 inches linear length of gold chain, so 4 1/4 Feet )!), but again it is permanently doubled and can be worn in various ways. The fist is petite, about 11mm from the edge of the cuff to the knuckles, not including the bracket.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Often these have welds but I don't see any repairs. Perfectly functioning and seemingly in better than most condition. Uniform surface wear from age. Scarce and interesting piece in the solid gold version.
