ABOUT:

This one is a release from my personal collection. I still love it and would consider this one a staple in my jewelry box but I am trying to keep my PC pretty humble as we have other needs at the moment. Happy I was able to enjoy it for a time! : )

Awesome French antique 18k solid gold figural necklace with an ornate fist holding an equally ornate bracket that leads down to a round screw bolt clasp / dog clip. Note this one is in a shorter length with shimmering, flat, book chain like links. Makes an excellent antique addition to your neckmess or neckstack. With the round screw bolt, one can easily swap in and out different pendants which makes it a super fun feature with the added ornament of the fist.

I think this was originally an extra long guard / muff / watch chain as that is the form we typically see them, and they removed some links to make it shorter and welded it back on to the cuff. I loved wearing this one with its shorter length as the others I have had are typically worn doubled. So yes, it looks like at some point, someone shortened this one to 27 inches which slips over the head and can be worn as a pendant holder. One could also add a split ring or hook to the chain end and connect the dog clip to it to wear it as a shorter chain doubled around the neck (as an example seen in photos - the hook shown is not for sale / not included.)

It is really striking to wear. The chain has liquid movement and a wonderful shimmer, shine and rich, buttery patina that just glows and catches the light with the wider links. Note that it has no clasp to open at the back, so you can't open and stretch the chain end to end. You wear it by either slipping it over the head, or by keeping the chain doubled and attaching it to itself with the screw bolt dog clip. The chain itself is too wide to fit into the opening of the screw bolt which is why I had to wear it with a hook, double dog clip or split ring when I wore it shortened and doubled. Feel free to reach out if that doesn't make sense, it is tough to describe. : )

Found in France. It is stamped with the French hallmark for 18k on the bracket of the fist and also on the dog clip. Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 12 grams.
Stretched end to end the entire piece is about 15 inches while it is doubled.
If you measure just the chain portion it is about 13.5 inches doubled so 27 inches of linear chain (although you can't open the chain to stretch it end to end).
The book chain links are about 2.6mm wide.
The fist ornament portion is 35mm from the top of the cuff to the end of the dog clip. The bracket is about 9mm wide so the fisted hand itself is dainty.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
