Five Stone Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Ring Victorian French Antique Hallmark 18k Gold Wedding Band Stacker
Five Stone Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Ring Victorian French Antique Hallmark 18k Gold Wedding Band Stacker
ABOUT:
The sweetest Victorian era antique diamond band with five old mine cut diamonds set into a line. Makes a beautiful stacker or a minimalist statement worn alone.
Found in France, this one has the antique hallmark for 18k gold used primarily in the 1800s and discontinued by the early 1900s which gives as an idea of the age of the piece. Gorgeous, warm antique patina.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 6 1/4
Each diamond is 2.7 to 3.2mm each, totaling around half a carat.
Height off finger: 3.7mm tall.
Weight: 2.6g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This one is a fabulous example of why many of us in the trade don't really heavily on the "Four C's" scale when it comes to antique diamonds. This scale was created much later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets and doesn't translate well to antique diamonds that were hand cut by experts to highlight their best attributes.
Case in point - the center stone on this ring is actually a gorgeous pale yellow color, but it was hand cut to face up brighter and ends up looking whiter than the four other diamonds in the ring, which reflect a slightly more gray hue.
A few worn prongs as expected for age but each stone is held securely on multiple sides and none of the stones move.
Typical antique diamonds with natural inclusions, or a tiny frosty spot here and there to the old cut stones. Again, mostly seen under magnification since they are small diamonds. One of the end stones appears a bit frosty when studying it through. The end stone on the opposite side is tilted a bit in the setting but held securely in place. These are the old hand cut stones that provide a beautiful sparkle and that great antique look.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
