Alternating color and sparkle!
This antique ring has that sought after smooth and comfortable bezel setting with a nice geometry and just a bit of height for layering.
The largest center stone is a garnet which is flanked by two smaller old mine cut diamonds with two natural rubies one on each end. This may be a case where the jeweler eye matched the gems and used what they had available to them, as the color of the gems are a pretty near perfect match and they didn't have gem testers back then, rather making choices that were aesthetically pleasing.
Rich purplish berry maroon coloring to the gems. I love stackable bands like these to mix and match with.
I got this one in England. No hallmarks but tests at 18k gold.
Antique box in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Feel free to check my website or request more photos or video as I have many besides those allowed here.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/2. Weight is 2.6 grams. The ring face is 7.3 by 17.7mm wide and 3.6mm off the finger.
The garnet is about 6.8x5.7mm, the diamonds are about 3mm and the rubies about 3.6mm each.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamonds considering these were cut in a much more limited supply than the mass produced pieces of today. One has a linear carbon inclusion, the other some frost but the stones aren't very big so it is more seen when you are seeking them out. A flea bit here or there but better than most condition to the stones with a gorgeous color, sheen and polish. Really nice condition and a sturdy piece ready for wear.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
