ABOUT:
Another ever popular five stone diamond band! I am always looking for these because my wonderful customers always seem to be looking for them too : )

This one has the five chunky old mine cuts totaling 1.75 carat in slightly graduating sizes propped up in white precious metal (I suspect platinum but don't like scratch testing the prongs). The setting adds a nice height and splay to stones making it a fun one to layer and stack.

Awesome antique diamonds with lofty crowns cropping out of the ring face - we just love chunky stones like these, contributing to that nice carat weight of 1 3/4 carat tdw.

Also exciting to find the prongs are in good shape making this beauty ready for regular wear - another treat considering age of over 125 years. The diamonds display a slight warmth in some lighting conditions, a trait that is sought after by collectors like me, as many rough stones from the period came from mines that produced warmer colored diamonds. They have varying degrees of fluorescence, commonly found in natural diamonds from the period.

Definitely an all original antique piece, with worn 18CT stamp inside.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 3/4

The ring face is 5.5mm north south and the five stones span abut 20mm east west. It stands 5.6mm tall off the finger.

The center diamond is about 4.8mm and just under half a carat alone. The flanking two stones are 4.2 & 4.3mm and the end stones are about 3.9mm each.
Exact carat weight is unknown as I would never remove the stones from the antique setting but estimates to around 1.75 carats and it was sold to me as such as well.

The ring weight is 2.7 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Many more images can be found on my website.

Typical antique diamonds with slight warmth and some natural inclusions. The warmth varies slightly and some of this due to how they reflect the light with the splay of the ring face and the chunky high crowns of the stones, vs. a piece where all the stones face up perfectly. So if you refer to the video you can kind of see how they change as you move the piece. The warmth is detectable but the piece has a lovely sparkle.

One stone is eye clean, the others have faint inclusions but it's mostly a frosty fleck here or there, slightly to very slightly eye visible, a crystal or needle inclusion that can sometimes catch the light. No dark or glaring carbon spots. None of the stones are frosty all the way through or milky.

Considering age the setting is quite sturdy, none of the stones move, and despite some wear to the prongs here or there, each stone has a lot of length surrounding it to hold them well in place for regular wear. The back of the shank is on the thinner side though and a bit blunt from age and wear. It is 1mm deep and wide there though so that is something to discuss with your jeweler to determine their comfort level if a sizing is desired.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely sparkle, but it also highlights the warmth and inclusions, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) These pieces were intended to be viewed by fireside and candlelight so they exude a beautiful antique sparkle. Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
