FLAMING HEART Witch's Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Antique PENDANT French Victorian Silver & 14k Rose Gold

ABOUT:

Rare and collectible figural flaming heart / witch's heart pendant from the Georgian period set with rose cut diamonds. This piece has a great antique look with a moody antique sparkle. It was likely originally a stick pin or brooch, given during the Georgian era as a love token. It is crafted in solid silver with some faint gold remaining and when it was converted to a pendant, a 14k rosy gold loop and bale was added. I love how this one has the curved bottom of the witch's heart in addition to the flames at the top. Openwork filigree underside which gives it some height off the decollette. I love figural antique pieces.

Found in France, No hallmarks remain.

MEASUREMENTS:
Dimensions: 18mm x 11.5mm measuring just the heart and not the loops and bale. It is 6mm deep off the neck.
Weight: 2.3g

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique rose cuts, frosty and thin rough cut shards typical for the period. They were set in a foil back setting which has discolored and darkened from age with its closed back. They all read quite gray and two have such flat facets that they almost read black looking through the diamond to the darkened foil underneath. It does still catch the light to give a nice sparkle with a striking figural design. You can see on the sides of the piece also where it was altered, with the filigree lattice underside being filled in in some spots and a worn opening on the other side. This is hidden underneath the heart so it is only visible when viewing from the side or back. It appears as mostly silver now with just a tiny bit of the rose gold used in original fabrication remaining. But with the addition of the rose gold bale, it could be worn with a gold or silver chain.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
