ABOUT:
This is a personal collection release that I bought for the setting with buttery fleur de lis symbols at each shoulder of the knife edge shank. Because the rose cut front and center is so thinly sliced, I had thought about using the awesome setting to hold perhaps a Perignan garnet, but as I have had it, it has kind of grown on me as it is, so I decided to sell it as such.
The sturdy shank has French maker's mark and is in 18k gold. It leads up to the ring face which is a foil backed silver collet setting holding a very thin, nearly transparent rose cut diamond. The ring face has a rose gold back and is curved to lie against the finger, but I don't believe the pieces are original to each other but as we can see a difference in patina inside the ring face only (not visible while wearing at all) and the way the shoulders are smoothed into the back of the ring face. Hard to say exactly what stories it could tell but it is a sturdy antique. All components are definitely antique. It sits low to the finger for a fun figural detail in a stack.
Any props or additional items not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8.75
The diamond is 6.5 by 4.5mm so it faces up to the scale of about a .7 carat diamond but it is nowhere near that carat weight as it has no pavilion and is so thinly sliced. It's just spready if that makes sense.
Ring face 10x7mm
Weight: 2.7grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
No muddiness or rust to the closed back and foiled setting. But the diamond is so thin and shallowly faceted so as to be transparent when looking down on it, its facets do catch the light though for winks of sparkle. There's a gap between one edge of the stone and the collet that appears to be a linear chip which is slightly visible while wearing but not glaring. The foil is very reflective and silver with no rust or deterioration. The shank is very sturdy. An interesting antique.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
