ABOUT:
So many wonderful design details to this Victorian era antique ring. At center we have the purple buff top amethyst ring where the underside of the stone is faceted and the top is smooth and set flush in the bezel setting. Already a unique look there.
But add to it all the other elements and this special antique becomes even more of a head turner. It is crafted in 18k tricolor gold where the body of the piece is a rich and warm antique yellow gold. But then at the shoulders we have those lovely applied flowers with rose gold petals, white centers and green gold leaves that drape down. As an added design element are the ball rivet details on the north south edges of the ring face.
I purchased it in France but it doesn't have their common hallmarks. It has old stamps inside one shoulder that looks like a maker's mark and I think an old stamp that says 18C for 18k gold. It's worn and muddled so I tested it to be sure as well.
Antique box used for staging is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6. It weighs 2.9g. The ring face is 8.7mm north south and 4.5mm tall. The amethyst is about 10x8.5mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
A deeper nick and some scratches to the amethyst along with some abrasions to the very outline of the buff top giving that area a bit of a matte finish but overall it has a nice sheen and polish considering age. It is when you study the mirrored surface in a reflection that you can detect the wear. I tried to accent this in the 20x zoom photos which will make it much more apparent than with normal wear. The colored gold is super fab - one of my faves to find in antiques. Stable and ready to wear!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any glaring issues above and they are all still wearable.
