FLORAL Antique VICTORIAN Large French Clasp Pendant Panel 18k Gold Solid Enamel Pansy Necklace Bracelet Extender
FLORAL Antique VICTORIAN Large French Clasp Pendant Panel 18k Gold Solid Enamel Pansy Necklace Bracelet Extender
ABOUT:
Beautiful Victorian era French antique 18k solid gold clasp pendant. Back in that era, these decorative clasps were worn towards the front as a pendant. As evidenced by the fabrication, it was part of a five strand necklace but it could be used now as a pendant or bracelet element with just one chain added to the center or top opening.
Intricate enamel details on the front - with colors of white, red, blue and green.
These pieces are becoming more and more scarce, as these folk traditional pieces fell out of use in the early 1900s.
French hallmarks for 18k on the loop used primarily in the 1800s and discontinued in the very early 1900s. Chain, antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 3.5g. It is about 23x26mm.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some nicks and surface wear to the enamel but no loss to the underlying gold so the design is all complete, filled in with color where it should be, it is still very legible. The piece is in good working condition with the clasp tight and secure making a nice click. Some pin dings to the back of the piece and there are two pinhead holes on one side with some darker remnants around it, I wonder if it may have held a dangle or pendant. Uniform surface wear from age but fantastic to wear. Scarce and interesting piece in solid gold. Note the small holes which each held a chain - they are too small to run a chain through so the buyer would have to incorporate some jump rings or a bale that opens to connect to the piece.
My disclaimer with all my antique pieces - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
