ABOUT:
What a gorgeous pop of color to this unusual antique ring. The large marquise stone, assumed synthetic due to color and clarity to the ruby is in excellent condition overall and is accented by an uncommon flower and swirl detail on each side. At first it almost looked like a dragonfly to me but appears to be a sort of tropical flower. The angled bezel has lovely ornate openwork scrolling details underneath the setting.
I found this one in France and it has their hallmark for 18k gold but there is another hallmark on the inside so I assume it was made elsewhere. I can't decipher it but it is an older stamp.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures 5 1/4.
It weighs a 5.3 grams.
Ring face is 27mm north south. The ruby is about 25x9mm.
It stands 6mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The tiniest flea bites to the ruby but overall a wonderful sheen and polish, in better than most condition for age I'd say. There are three cloudy spots from surface wear at the very end on one side, tucked under the bezel so this is not glaring while wearing. The stone moves in the bezels and clicks when you shake it aggressively but it is super secure and not possible to come free with the long sturdy bezels holding it in on each end.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
