ABOUT:

If you follow me you know I love geometry in my antique jewelry. I always seek out panel / grid / lozenge rings (what's your favorite way to refer to these?) and this is such a fun one because it has a dramatic kite shape. It's also interesting in that it isn't encrusted with small little diamonds like we typically see. Instead the sparkle is from four chunky old mine cut diamonds set into the face totaling around 0.9 carat. They are set in bead prongs giving the ring face a wonderful texture. I love this one.

Found in England, stamped 18CT inside for 18k gold.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8.

The diamonds are each about 3.5mm and one is 4mm. Chunky cuts totaling around .9 carat total weight. The ring face is 16mm north south and 10mm east west. The piece weighs 2.65grams.

CONDITION NOTES:

Some of the diamonds are eye clean and some have some faint natural inclusions. The largest stone has an indented natural inclusion that carries up to the surface and leaves a crease, adjacent to some tiny carbon speck inclusions. This is slightly eye visible but overall not overly glaring. Typical for the period they have a slight warmth to palest yellow color which many antique collectors love to see as these were hand cut long before the Four C's were invented. They are well matching and provide a nice chunky sparkle. I don't personally prefer to assign grades that were created for modern machine cut diamonds with their mathematically perfected facets to these old expertly hand cut stones where their uniqueness and eccentricities should be celebrated, but in case it is helpful, I was told they are I-J in color and VS2 to SI2 (which all aligns with what I saw when studying them as described above).

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
