ABOUT:
Sparkly larger sized cluster pendant set with twelve old mine cut diamonds totaling around 1.5 carat total weight in antique diamonds. The diamonds are awesome, hand chiseled with the Peruzzi tendencies and square to rectangular shapes in the halo. Most of the old cut diamonds have the single layer of crown facets that are long and triangular scissor cuts with really high crowns. It is always fun to find uniquely cut antique diamonds!
The chain leads to the pendant which dangles with a line of three old mine cut diamonds, each connected by loop to eachother reaching down to the daisy cluster. The independent settings allows each piece to move and catch the light for maximum sparkle.
This French antique piece is crafted in 18k white and yellow gold and platinum. There are several hallmarks, the pendant is stamped for gold and platinum. The safety chain is hallmarked for 18k gold and platinum and the barrel clasp is also hallmarked but I can't decipher them. The chain tests as platinum with a kee tester but some parts may be white gold as the safety chain was marked for both. The back of the pendant is layered in yellow gold for a nice glow. It has a substantial bale.
Great 3D form with the gorgeous daisy cluster.
It is a quite sturdy fabrication with a wonderful color and sparkle.
Any additional items or props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
Chain is about 16 3/4 inches in length. Pendant with chain weighs 7.5 grams.
The daisy cluster is 14mm in diameter. It dangles 40mm from the top of the bale to the bottom of the cluster.
Center diamond is 4.3mm and around .3 carat, the others are 2.7 to 3.3mm each. Depths vary and exact weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones but some chunky cuts and high crowns, estimates to around 1.5 carat total weight in diamonds.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The center diamond is eye clean with a slight warmth typical for the period. It is set in forked prongs that are very secure. There is a nibble to one girdle edge, which has resulted in a shallow flake of loss to the underside, underneath the girdle edge, leaving a frosty spot there when you look through the stone. It does not appear like a chip because the stone has still retained its shape with the outline of the girdle still complete.
The smaller diamonds are hand chiseled and freeform in nature with varying shapes. Some have warm hues, some have a few faint natural inclusions. One lists to the side but is held in place, pinched in the prongs. Some worn prongs here or there, mostly to the outside edge of the outside diamonds so I wouldn't wear this one in a stack where it would be banging against other heavy pendants, but layered by length or alone would be perfect for gentler wear.
One small part of the chain has 3 links sort of stuck together. It does not look like a repair as there is no built up solder, not sure if it was just made that way? It doesn't appear as a kink but just a slight interruption in the pattern when it catches the light. The bale has a tiny ripple to it.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
