ABOUT:

As you may know, I love a dramatic navette and this is a fine one with quality antique old mine cut totaling around 1.8 carats - quite bright white in color with an amazing sparkle. It has a nice presence on the finger measuring over an inch north south, with the drama added by the skinniness of it in addition to the flash of the 25 diamonds.

I love antique diamonds, even those with inclusions or hues typical for the time, because some of those were still among the best available in the market during that period, and were expertly cut by hand in limited supply to enhance their best characteristics. So I don’t often prefer to compare antique stones against modern grading standards - BUT these diamonds, for antique stones have particularly lovely fire and brilliance, reflecting a noticeable flash of white with the other colors of the rainbow. So even though the stones were made long before the 4 C's existed for modern stones cut by the millions of carats each year, this one stands out in terms of quality.

I love the cobblestone texture too. The ring is a smaller size making it a fabulous and attention grabbing pinky ring option. Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold and an antique serial number inside.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Just a 3 1/4 in size, the ring face is 27mm north to south by 8mm and 4.8mm tall of the finger. It weighs a little over 5 grams.

The largest center diamond is 3.2mm. The majority of other diamonds are 2 to 2.5mm each, many with high chunky crowns. There are four at the center that are 1.5mm that are little diamond spacers filling in to give it that completely encrusted look. I would not remove them for exact measurements but estimated around 1.8 carat total weight in diamonds. This was according to my measurements, but it was also sold to me at this carat weight so it has had a second opinion which aligns with the first! : )

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Five of the diamonds have a worn outside edge prong but none of the stones move. This is expected for a piece of this age. We always recommend gentler wear on antique rings, especially those with so many small stones, but I actually see more loss on machine made vintage and modern pieces than I do on these high quality antiques. It's just something to keep an eye on and potentially deal with over time.

No chips or damage to the diamonds and no dark carbon spots or glaring inclusions. The tiniest nibble to a girdle in a very small number of spots, not at all eye visible. Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions, that are small frosty specks or crystals, only very slightly eye visible (and not to my eyes which are in their forties) as each stone is not super large and their sparkle helps mask these.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Thanks so much for looking at my items!
