Really wonderful detail to this very Romantic French antique figural ring in 18k gold. It's just the sweetest little design with such mouth watering coloring. This one is in tricolor cold with a rosy gold shank, yellow gold flowers, and notably green gold washed leaves, accented by a little sapphire and a rose cut diamond. I need to brush up on my language of the flowers as I can't say for sure if it's a wild rose, forget me not, some sort of poppy?.... Botanists, please tell me!
Dainty piece but these are so up my alley as I love French Art Nouveau and floral jewelry. And the tricoloring is so special. With petal and leaf texture? Gah, I'm giddy over here.
This is an antique piece that I acquired in France from the Belle Epoque period. French hallmark for 18k on the back.
Antique box not included. Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide, as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
Ring is currently about a size 6. On the finger, the ring face is 13mm north to south.
The piece weighs just 1.5 gram so it is very dainty with a lightweight hand feel.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some wear to the pattern from age over 125 years but about as good as we can find. Gorgeous gold work, lovely sheen and colors. Diamond looks a bit frosty from buildup behind but I didn't want to scrub it as it is a tiny bit crooked in the bezel under magnification and I don't want to risk freeing it. A few tiny nibbles to the sapphire. Edges are a bit pointy and blunt, just how it was made.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
