ABOUT:
This bracelet is a release from my personal collection. I love French antique jewelry. And I love it even more when it bears the antique period hallmark which confirms its age. Since the French didn't use yearly date stamps like we see in some other countries, it is only by the fact that the hallmark has been discontinued since the early 1900s and was used primarily in the 1800s that it allows us to date a piece to the antique period.
I don't often see the mark on bracelets so I was excited to find it on this one, to guarantee it as antique and not vintage. That along with the quality of the piece with sturdy hand feel and the sleek and glowing gold in all 18k yellow gold.
The bangle is oval with rounded pipe fabrication in 18k gold and hinged with hidden clasp. Makes a great staple bangle and is a sturdy piece, weighing in at 17.4 grams. Not flexible or tinny, it has a quality hand feel.
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 17.4 grams. Inside opening is 60x50mm. It's about 6 3/4 inches with a tape measure wrapped around the inside. I have a 5.5" wrist and I can slide it off and on without opening it but I still wore it in a stack even though it can spin on my wrist.
It's about 5.8mm north south and deep when measuring the pipe.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This bracelet is beautiful. There are a few shallow impressions that give it a ripple here, only one of which is a bit more noticeable due to the sleek mirrored finish but considering age of over 125 years, it would be difficult to find much better. The impressions are all pretty gradual, nothing glaring, and no punctures or sharp pin dings. Surface wear but sturdy and wearable with a lovely vintage patina and sheen overall. A very nice quality in the hand, not tinny or flimsy feeling.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
