FRENCH Antique Rose Cut DIAMOND Teardrop Pendant 18k Gold Pear Dangle Silver Collet Georgian

ABOUT:

Beautiful Georgian era French pendant in 18k gold and silver with pear / teardrop rose cut diamond in silver collet setting with foiled back. The attached loop and jump ring are 18k.

I acquired this piece in France but no hallmarks remain.

Typical very old antique rose cuts with nibbles around the outside edge seen mostly under magnification. Nice to see the foil in such good shape, where it is not dark or rusty, just a slight warmth as we would expect to find for age.

Chain in photos is not included but it could be worn with a gold or silver chain.

MEASUREMENTS:
The piece is 16mm top to bottom with the loop by 6.5mm and the diamond is about 7.5mm by 5mm, just measuring the exposed surface of the diamond, which widens out an unknown amount in the silver collet. Depth and thereby car weight is unknown. Like most rose cuts they have a lower carat weight but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. A round modern brilliant diamond with 1 carat total weight has a diameter of around 6.5mm for comparison's sake and to give you an idea of scale. Weighs 1.1g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical very old antique rose cut with some faint natural inclusions, slightly eye visible, no large dark carbon spots so nothing glaring. Some nibbles around the outside edge seen mostly under magnification. Nice to see the foil in such good shape, where it is not dark or rusty, just a slight warmth as we would expect to find for age.
Plenty of antique patina to the gold and silver. Some surface wear. The jump ring has wear but is thick. It can sometimes catch in the loop but a sweet piece. A second loop may be added if desired depending on how you want it to dangle.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
