I am swooning for these earrings. The rich patina of the gold against the gorgeous warm yellow of the citrines and in such a classic antique collet setting!

Found in France, these dormeuse earrings are the classic drops with the domed backs and a lovely reflectivity to the foil. Definitely antique, with fabrication used during the Georgian and Victorian periods. I am going to go with Victorian just because the backs are sooooo springy and the hinges so tight, it's hard to believe they are over 100 years old let alone 200, although they certainly have the patina for both.

I love the golden yellow color - would be beautiful in the autumn and winter, but sunny enough for spring and summer too!

Really well functioning and ready for regular wear. These earrings are called "dormeuse" in French which translates to "sleeper", meant to be comfortable enough to sleep in, used in olden times to keep the ear holes open overnight : ) Of course these days we don't recommend all night 24/7 wear on these antique pieces with intricate 100 year old gold hinges and these shouldn't get wet, but I'd be hard pressed to find such an old pair in such amazing condition.

Found in France, with their hallmarks for 18k gold, they have a rosy glow from patina with some dark areas around the ball rivets at the top but it is just patina and not a solder or a repair.

Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

MEASUREMENTS:
16mm from top of ear wire to Bottom, each stone is about 9x7mm.
The pair weighs 2.4 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

One stone is chipped with little circular shards of loss in one spot at the top, pushed right up against the cut down collet - the total area affected is about 2mm. My eyes which are in their forties can't see it, I noticed it under magnification. Very little surface wear to the stones when it comes to scuffs and abrasions, they have a nice sheen and polish with very few of the smaller nibbles we often see. Gorgeous antique patina and better than most hinges and lever backs.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
