ABOUT:
These are vintage rather than antique with brilliant cut diamonds but I love the striking sphere shape. Little 3D balls of sparkle that stand out from the ear with a triangular openwork design. Almost like a stylized geodesic dome design with a lovely sparkle. Stack them up or wear them alone as a minimalist statement.
Found in France, both the posts and the Alpa Mecan push backs that are popular there are hallmarked for 18k.
The push backs are the popular French ones with the push buttons that are spring loaded with little “buttons” on each side to run it down the post. These are on the looser side however and do not latch into place, seemingly because the ear posts aren't very well grooved. They can be pushed in all the way to the back of the earring, but I noticed they do slide some. They are tight enough to stay on the ear but one especially seems a bit loose so I wouldn't recommend for 24/7 wear. Of course it would also be easy enough to swap out the push back with any other one from your jewelry box since they aren't visible when wearing anyway.
Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The spheres are 8.5mm in diameter. The pair weighs 4.2 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
See notes about the push backs being a bit loose. Diamonds are bright and have a lovely sparkle. They are small so any variances are only seen under strong magnification.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
