FRIDAY the Thirteenth 13th Antique French Love Medal Tricolor 18k Gold PENDANT Belle Epoque Charm Floral Lucky Gift Rose Green Figural

Awesomel French antique medal / pendant in 18k tricolor gold with floral designs amidst the openwork details reading: "Vendredi 13" which is French for Friday the 13th!

While it might seem superstitious in Western culture, 13 was traditionally considered a lucky number in France prior to World War I, and was used in numerical form as a good luck symbol during the Victorian to Art Nouveau period. Friday was also said to be a lucky day in some Norse cultures.

Wonderful patina and coloring in tricolor gold with the piece reading a rich yellow gold, with rose gold in the recesses of the engravings and applied green gold leaves. The French did such amazing layered gold work during this period! Found in France, their love medals and good luck charms are fun to collect, mix and match. French hallmark for 18k gold with a goldsmith stamp.

Antique props, chain, etc. not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it is difficult to show scale in the photos with the zoom that is required for detail.

Weight: just 0.9 grams
Height: 24mm
(This measurement is top to bottom including the attached loop but not including the dangling jump ring / bale)
By 19mm wide.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note the piece is thinly stamped gold and lightweight. It has held up pretty well with just a few shallow impressions that look like a ripple mostly to the back, as the front as all the wonderful designs to mask it.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
