ABOUT:
My peeps know I love jewelry with words so this one is very me! Beautiful French antique enamel barrel pendant - this one wanted to be in the Mouse's keep pile but I have too many pendants and only one neck.
As sweet as they come with forget me not flower details alternating with light and navy blue enamel panels, each with a word in French:
Amitie - Friendship / kindness / best wishes
Souvenir - memory, souvenir, remembrance
Constance - steadfastness / constancy
This was originally a clasp on a chain just looking at the opening on the bottom side, but the original loop in the top makes it a perfect pendant with interesting shape and gorgeous patina. French hallmark for 18k gold on the loop, it is hollow inside.
In really nice condition with very legible graphic and words.
Chain in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
15.5mm end to end by 6.7mm deep. It weighs just 0.7 gram.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note the small loop, a larger jump ring may need to be added to slide onto a chain.
Shallow surface loss to the enamel but for the most part with just one spot of loss to the gold underneath on the Amitie panel. Otherwise, it still appears complete in color as the loss to the surface does not go all the way through to reveal the gold underneath. Surface wear and some patina as expected for a piece over 125 years old but no deep dings or pin dings or dents.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
