GEORGIAN Antique LARGE Foiled Garnet ETERNITY Band Collet Set 14k Rose Gold Domed Back Band

Behind old mine cuts comes the beautiful juicy garnet on my favs list. I purchased this one for myself but sadly discovered the size is a bit too large for me so I have to offer it up (insert crying face emoji here). Love this one, for its age, style, stackability, color and condition of the gemstones.

This gorgeous garnet eternity band is somewhat uncommon due to the larger sized stones. They are oval in shape, collet set and foiled with domed backs connecting to make the perfect stackable hoop. Beautiful colors of deep red wine to a juicy berry purplish pink reflection when the light catches the foil back. And the stones in nice condition for its age from the Georgian era. Especially considering many of these have cracks or shards of loss from wear to the stones - as eternities by nature surround the finger including the palm side of the hand where it makes contact with surfaces and tends to get more bruises. In contrast, this one has no cracks or loss and still a wonderful sheen and polish to the stones.

No hallmarks as is often found on pieces of this age. Tests at 14k and appears quite rosy with some darker antique patina and some areas with a more buttery glow.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 6 3/4. It is 7 to 7.5mm north to south on the finger and 3 to 3.5mm deep with the domed backs. Each garnet is about 7.5x6mm widening out an unknown amount in the collet settings.

The piece weighs 3.95g.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some natural inclusions and spotting from age to the foil back seen when you study the stones under lit magnification. Some nicks and nibbles and small abrasions but no large or glaring chips or cracks. They all appear complete / oval to the eye, a beautiful glowing color with some hue variations due to the natural characteristics of the stones. Some patina and dark areas at the seams. Some shallow dings and ripples to the domed backs not visible when wearing. A few areas where the collets have small creases or cracks to the gold from wear on the top edges which serve as the bezel hugging the edges of the stones. This is seen mostly when studying it closely for flaws. I just noticed one stone does have areas where the girdle of the stone is visible, it moves slightly and clicks when you tap it due to wear to the edges of the collet not wrapping up and around the edges like it once did so this is something to keep an eye on. Considering that, its age and the fact that closed back pieces should avoid getting wet, this one needs gentler wear. Of course re-enforcement is always possible if desired by your local jeweler but most of my buyers opt for special occasion wear and original condition.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
