ABOUT:

We antique jewelry addicts love these old silver collet settings holding old cut diamonds. And this pendant has the benefit of being open backed so it's easier to wear and able to stay clean and bright!

But this one is definitely more than meets the eye! As we study it further, we find the French hallmark on the loop for 18k gold used only from 1809 to 1819. It's partial but I know it well so it is decipherable when you know what to look for. So great to find antique pieces that we can specifically date! So we know without question this one is over 200 years old!

My other favorite things about it are:

The bale is an Antique Split Ring!!! - these antique parts and findings are valuable and collectible in their own right, even when they aren't attached to pendant!
The pear old mine cut at the center.
The mix of shapes and hues in the smaller diamonds - some Peruzzi, some elongated old mine, all clearly hand chiseled - always nice to find old mine cut diamonds in shapes outside of the more common round / cushion. (Although to be honest, you can't really call any antique old mine cut diamond "common", they are all one of one.)
The way the center pear has its own loop so it can dangle separately from the halo.
I also love the way the chunky diamonds' crowns crop out of the silver collets.

Crafted in 18k gold with gold bale/ loop and gold back, the collets holding the diamonds in silver. Found in France with their hallmarks on the loop and split ring, the split ring's hallmark is slightly later but is still an older mark / antique piece.

Any additional items or props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

MEASUREMENTS:

The pendant is 21x14mm including the attached loop but not including the larger split ring. It weighs 1.8 grams.

The largest center diamond is 6.3x3.95mm and is a chunky cut, around half a carat alone, this is just measuring the exposed portion, it widens an unknown amount further in the collet setting which wraps around the edges of the stone.
The diamonds in the halo are also chunky cuts measuring 2.2 to 2.6mm each.
Depths vary and exact weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones but some chunky cuts and high crowns, estimates to a little over 1.1 carat total weight in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
It looks like it was cleaned so the silver has a bit of a cloudy finish instead of the darker patina that will increase more with time.

They are typical antique diamonds with some varying hues, overall well matching but one has a gorgeous pale yellow color. The stones have varying faint inclusions natural and typical for stones from the period cut in more limited supply. The pear has a brown linear inclusion that is very slightly eye visible and is otherwise eye clean. The others just some frosty specks, no dark or glaring / inky carbon spots. Some of the smaller stones appear a bit frosty throughout and/ or have natural inclusions that carry up to the surface leaving an indented natural inclusion on the crown facet edge that looks like a tiny speck but they are small so this is seen only under magnification. They are all sparkly, none are dull or lifeless.

Very wearable, timeless, sparkly, and so old - what's not to love!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
