GEORGIAN Era French Antique Blue White Enamel STAR Floral Figural Stick PIN or Pendant Conv. Large
ABOUT:
Special stock drop of some fun figural antique pieces, several of these are personal collection releases that I have enjoyed! : )
Wonderful French traditional antique regional brooch or pin. This large figural antique piece has Georgian era hallmarks for 18k used only for a short time in the early 1800s. This piece is included in the ranks of collectible French Regional Jewelry. Regional, or folk jewelry, is defined by a particular style confined to a particular region. This one was worn by the women of Normandy to secure their scarf around their neck and were later sold in the seaside towns as souvenirs.
Large size to this figural piece for a stick pin, it would be beautiful converted to a pendant by your local jeweler. The pin has a hinged back at the top and a hook at the bottom to serve as the catch. Beautiful rose and yellow gold used in the making with the intricately coiled gold wire details between the petals and the interesting star center colored with blue and white enamel.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included. I just laid it over my staging chain to show examples of how to wear.
MEASUREMENTS:
59mm x 23mm wide at the flower head. It weighs 2.5g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some wear and a slight bend but pretty amazing considering age. The hinged pin post is a bit loose and doesn't seem to stay tightly into the catch but with tension of clothing I would imagine it would hold. Some solder to the back, some of which may be reinforcement since it is very delicate and very old.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Striking to wear with the figural shape.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
