ABOUT:
Gah so beautiful!
Freeform hand cut and polished natural garnet beads adorn this antique long chain, culminating with a decorative antique clasp that reads in French "donné par amitie", translating to "given out of friendship" with enamel background and little forget me not flowers.

The beads really catch the light and even sparkle with a gorgeous deep red crimson glow. The clasp is a textbook traditional French antique one with the lovely message. These are often worn to the side and front like a pendant or as a decorative element as well.

Found in France with their hallmark for 18k.

The beads are 3.6mm gauge / diameter. It measures about 39 inches and weighs 19.3 grams although the only gold is there at the clasp, the beads are strung on string.

So pretty! With the extra long length, it can be worn wrapped multiple times around the neck or wrist.

Any props or additional items not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Clasp functions very well. Some surface wear to the beads where the facet edges are a bit matte and some of the beads have chips and loss but they are all freeform in shape anyway so it isn't super noticeable. There is a knot to the string that shows between two beads near the clasp on one side.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
