ABOUT:

A glowing sugarloaf sapphire in excellent condition stands at center amidst a halo of old mine cut diamonds in a lacy, ornate scalloped setting. The sapphire we are selling as synthetic, a popular choice for the period, the natural chunky old mine cuts making the perfect accents. This is an interesting setting with a sort of two story Edwardian design with open work details to the tall open gallery.

French antique piece, the sapphire is in excellent condition with a gorgeous pale blue to periwinkle coloring that glows from within. It holds 10 old cut diamonds for sparkle, one of which is a table cut.

French made with their hallmark for 18k gold, it has a warm rosy hue.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6, a little over.
The sapphire is 5.2mm in diameter. The diamonds are 2.2 to 2.5mm each.
It stands a tall 9.6mm off the finger to the top of the sugarloaf.
It weighs a very sturdy 6.3 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Wonderful sheen and glow to the sugarloaf with no chips, just two deeper scratches seen mostly under magnification.

Typical antique diamonds with frosty natural inclusions, rough cuts, irregular forms, they add a nice glint of sparkle, one or two appear quite frosty throughout. A bit of warmth here or there, to the table cut under magnification. The little bead prongs actually look quite good for age despite the cushion diamonds not fitting uniformly in the perfectly round settings. Evidence of a sizing to the back. Very unique and pretty ring!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
