ABOUT:

Great antique look to this cabochon garnet halo ring with rose cut diamond halo. The closed back setting to this French Georgian to early Victorian era piece is crafted in 14k gold and hallmarked. At the center is a gorgeous red cabochon garnet that glows a pinkish purple color from within. It is the color of a fine wine or juicy berry - I love garnets with this color and glow. It does have some abrasions but still a wonderful stone accented by the moody sparkle of the rose cut diamonds.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:

Currently measures a snug size 4 3/4. It weighs 3.6 grams. The ring face is 14mm north south by 10mm.

CONDITION NOTES:

The two shoulders don't quite match, it looks like they have some tool marks or may have been altered with some hand done work but the piece is in otherwise original condition and has always been a ring. Even in low ambient light the garnet has such a lovely glow and color but the surface has abrasions, nicks and scratches that can catch the light. I priced it lower for this reason and selling as is - I still find the piece quite wonderful. The buyer may wish to discuss with their local jeweler the option of trying to buff the top of the stone while set, I don't typically recommend removing it on these old pieces. Typical antique rose cut with some natural inclusions, frosty spots and rough edges since they were cut by and and slightly warm to gray hue from aging to the closed back but still a nice sparkle and a great antique look. Some patina and a bit of buildup since you can't get it wet.

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Very sweet piece from a very special era. I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
