I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
A very impactful diamond cluster pendant totaling about 2 1/4 carats. One of my favorite pendants in awhile in terms of design but also quality. I love the shape of this with the larger stones around the bottom and at center, just a beautiful drop.
Awesome texture and geometry too featuring the extra chunky center old mine cut popped up in prongs. It is then surrounded by the graduating sizes of additional old mine cuts with a bezel set one at the top to give the cluster an asymmetrical drape with the larger stones at the bottom.
As a fun accent, the bale of the piece is actually a clasp that opens and closes to add on any size chain very easily.
The setting is in 14k rosy gold topped in a white precious metal as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white precious metal (I believe silver but I do not scratch test prongs for fear of damage). The clasping bale is in 18k yellow gold and I believe it is later, the cluster being antique. As such, it can be worn with either a yellow or white gold / silver or platinum chain.
Would be a beautiful something old for a bride and is gorgeous to dress up or down.
Found in Sweden with their hallmarks on the bale for 18k and a maker's stamp. No hallmark on the antique part of the pendant.
Antique boxes, chains, props in photos is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Exact carat weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones and the depths vary but the old mine cuts have a nice dome. The center stone is a 5.4mm cushion cut with an extra chunky cut measuring about .62 carat alone. The bezel set stone is 4.1mm. The others measure 3.9 to 4.1mm and the smallest at the top of the halo are about 2.4mm each. Loosely estimated total carat weight of about 2.25 carats.
It measures 29mm top to bottom including the large bale by 13.2mm east west in diameter for the circle. It stands 7.2mm deep off the decollette with the sturdy halo and raised diamonds. It weighs 2.8 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Wow the sparkle! These are excellent quality antique diamonds with a beautiful fire.
I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about way later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. The scale does not do antique stones justice as they were expertly hand cut in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds made each year now. Their uniqueness and quirks are expected and part of their charm, but I will pass along the grades as I received them of SI to VS in clarity, the largest center stone being one of the VS, the smaller halo stones being SI to VS, and all are I/J in color.
The center stone is excellent. Eye clean. One halo stone has an indented natural inclusion and one has a swath of frost with a smattering of gray carbon within. The others have a frosty spot here or there and others are eye clean.
Prongs look good - what a treasure!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - PDue to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
