HALF HOOP Antique 18k Gold Nine Stone Rose Cut DIAMOND Ring Skinny Band
HALF HOOP Antique 18k Gold Nine Stone Rose Cut DIAMOND Ring Skinny Band
ABOUT:
Note - I have several fabulous videos of this ring but the website is not allowing me to upload at the moment. Please feel free to request these as they do a better job showing the true glory compared to the still photos!
Ever popular half hoop skinny stacker band ring in 18k gold with nine round rose cut diamonds set in pronged and cut down silver collets as was customary during the time to set the diamonds in white metal. This one is a true half hoop with the diamonds extending all the way across the top of the finger with ornate forked shoulders at the halfway point.
Gorgeous moody sparkle to the foil backed rose cuts with quite a lot of glitter. Layers perfectly with other pieces. Plenty of patina to the silver and the gold from age but nice to see the piece is the original shank.
Exact depth and thereby carat weight is unknown as I would never remove them from the setting. But like most rose cuts they have a lower carat weight but the surface area gives it the appearance of a larger carat stone. The largest center stone's visible portion (as it widens out some in the collet) is 3.3mm. They taper down from there as they extend to the end where the smallest stones are 2mm.
HALLMARKS:
No hallmarks remain but sold to me from a reputable antique jewelry shop in England as 18k and tested to confirm. And of course topped in silver to set the diamonds.
Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Currently measures a size 7, just slightly over but does not reach 7 1/4. Weighs 2.4 Grams.
Ring face is 4.2mm north to south on the finger and 3.3mm tall off the finger.
CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. The diamonds read warm to gray from age to the foil. Some dark spots under magnification to the foil and some faint natural inclusions. Typical antique diamonds with some frosty spots as well and a few nicks and nibbles, most appearing as a crease which may be the result of inclusions carrying up to the surface. The center diamond has a shallow flake of loss on the Underside which appears as a frosty unpolished area when looking through the stone. It is still complete and does not affect the domed top of the rose cut or the girdle. Some wear and patina but all the stones are secure.
Original Shank is still sturdy. A fun stacker with a wonderful antique look. But due to age, please note this is not a mint condition item. These need more careful wear as the closed / foiled settings should not get wet as the moisture causes deterioration to the foil and discoloration.
