ABOUT:
Special stock drop of some fun figural antique pieces, several of these are personal collection releases that I have enjoyed! : )
Oh those clever Victorians and their wonderful, whimsical figural jewelry! Thank heavens for them!
This beautiful 3D figural piece serves double duty as it is an antique clasp to hook two ends of a chain together, but could also be worn as a pendant or charm. These are so fun because you can add a jump ring and put it on any chain hanging down, or you can attach the ends of a chain, one at the clasp and one at the hand side and wear it to off to the side or bottom as a chain accent.
Just amazing detail to the piece, with a tiny diamond ring on the finger and the cuff accented with turquoise beads (I do not think natural). And the best part that the hand reaches out to clasp a Snake. Another of my favorite details is that the underside of the cuff has wonderful Victorian hand engraved details. Also, it is not super noticeable but the leaf details and the head of the snake have a faint green gold coloring, another of my favorite finds in some Victorian jewelry, their use of colored gold. Just So Many Fun Elements!
The gold has a beautiful texture with leaf details on the ruffled cuff. The clasp functions really well, nice and tight, snaps firmly closed.
It has a hallmark stamp hidden inside but I could not decipher it. It's a symbol hallmark (not a number) likely from somewhere in Western Europe. It tests at 14k.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Some of my buyers "draw out" an example to get an idea of scale in person.
Antique Boxes, props, chains, mice : ) not included. I just laid it over my staging chain to show examples of how to wear.
MEASUREMENTS:
24mm x 11mm x 6.5mm deep. It weighs 2.7g.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The diamond in the ring is chipped but it is teeny tiny so only seen under magnification. A few nicks to the turquoise beads. Note the small loops when considering connecting / adding jump ring!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Striking to wear with the figural shape.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!

MORE ABOUT HANDS JEWELRY (FROM BEJEWELED MAGAZINE):
In many cultures, people use their hands to help convey emotions when communicating. Throughout history, shaking hands in friendship, holding hands in affection, or reaching out with a token of love to ask for a hand in marriage have all been captured in this expressive motif in antique jewelry. From ancient Roman times through the sentimental Georgian and Victorian eras, hands have held many messages: loyalty, strength, romance and fidelity. The most charming and collectible of all variations of the hand are those that wear their own miniature pieces of jewelry, such as engagement rings and bracelets. This is definitely one form of antique jewelry that can be collected and worn today, and then handed down to the next generation.
