HEART Cut Antique Lemon Lime Green PERIDOT Rose Cut DIAMOND Halo Figural Ring Large Face Victorian Wedding Band
HEART Cut Antique Lemon Lime Green PERIDOT Rose Cut DIAMOND Halo Figural Ring Large Face Victorian Wedding Band
ABOUT:
Next up from my recent inventory trip. I found this one in the cutest little town in Belgium which was a happy surprise, as I had just stopped there to drink a Stella and take a break en route between markets. : ) But I ended purchasing several pieces there including this one.
Ever popular antique Heart motif -This wonderful Victorian antique ring has a fun combination of color and sparkle. At the center is a heart cut peridot. It is surrounded by little bezel set rose cut diamonds in an openwork setting with additional rose cut diamonds set into the heart shaped halo all the way around.
Certainly a romantic piece with the lemon lime green colored gem at the center - the color reminds me of the pop "Mountain Dew" : )
It looks like the heart face was originally a pin or some other jewelry component from the Victorian period, the way it was neatly and tidily added to the gold band to prop up off the finger. The band it was added to may have been a wedding band and may also be antique (difficult to say for sure without a date specific hallmark), it is a nice comfort fit band.
No hallmarks remain, sold to me at 18k by a reputable dealer and tested to confirm.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
The ring is a size 6 3/4 on my mandrel.
The ring face is 15mm north south by 14mm and 5.4mm off the finger.
The ring weight is 4.2 grams.
The peridot measures 8x7mm. The diamonds are very small but there are lots of them.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The peridot has abrasions to the top and underside that seem to affect its clarity, although the top is not matte finish like many heavily abraided stones can be. However the scratches and nicks pretty much all over can be seen especially in a reflection of direct light. The wear may have occurred when it was converted or from whatever the piece was originally when it was worn over 100 years ago. It almost looked like built up in the hard to reach places behind the stone but I couldn't get it to come clean. Beautiful color and glow, and wonderful sparkle from the diamonds. Typical antique rose cuts, small rough cuts with some frosty spots under magnification. They typically all look this way, just to add a glint of sparkle.
The band is a comfort fit but the edges are a bit blunt from having been worn but still very sturdy and stable.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
