Chunky Old Mine Cut
This antique ring features an extra chunky old mine cut diamond, cropping out of the ring face with its lofty crown. The .7 carat stone is set in the 18k gold setting with very sturdy hand feel. It weighs a heavy 10.1 grams of solid gold (no hollowed out areas in this one except for the opening behind the diamond to let light pass through.) The tall and thickly domed ring face tapers slightly towards the back but remaining quite sturdy.
A true unisex piece.
Found in France with their hallmark for 18k.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box not included.
This would be a wonderful gift - right hand ring, statement piece, or stacker, wedding band, etc. for male or female.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is currently a size 9 1/4. The ring face 8.6mm north south. It is 5.1mm tall off the finger with the high crown of the diamond. It weighs 10.1g.
I do not remove my stones from their antique settings for exact measurements. The exposed visible portion measures 5.2mm (but widens out further in the bezel). Chunky in cut, it estimates to around 0.7 carat.
CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. But this one is pretty great - very sturdy setting. The diamond is eye clean and clean even under magnification, with no damage at all. Typical for antique stones, it displays a lovely warmth but much of this is due to it being flush set and surrounded by thick gold on all sides. There are no dark spots to the gold, it can reflects its surroundings. Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
