This one features an extra chunky antique old mine cushion cut diamond, cropping out of the ring face with its lofty crown. The .8 carat stone is set in a gorgeous satin finish vintage 18k gold setting with extraordinary hand feel. It weighs a heavy 13.4 grams of solid gold (no hollowed out areas in this one except for the opening behind the diamond to let light pass through.) The ring face appears like a cigar band, with squared off edges tapering slightly towards the back but remaining quite sturdy.
A true unisex piece, with the added joy of it being comfort fit on the inside, where the edges are rounded to give it a glorious feel sliding on and off the finger. I love the soft texture on the gold.
This one is both vintage and antique with the antique stone set into a later vintage setting. Found in France with their hallmark for 18k and a goldsmith stamp.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box not included.
This would be a wonderful gift - right hand ring, statement piece, or stacker, wedding band, etc. for male or female.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is currently a size 9 1/2 slightly over. The ring face 8mm north south with the shank remaining quite wide all the way around. It is 4.7mm tall off the finger with the high crown of the diamond. It weighs 13.4g.
I do not remove my stones from their antique settings for exact measurements. The exposed visible portion measures 5.9 by 5.4mm (but widens out further in the flush mount). Chunky in cut, it estimates to at least 0.8 carat.
CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. But this one is pretty great - very sturdy setting. The diamond is eye clean with no damage at all, just a few of the faintest natural inclusions seen only under strong magnification. Typical for antique stones, it displays a slight warmth but much of this is due to it being flush set and surrounded by thick gold on all sides. There are no dark spots to the gold, it can reflects its surroundings but the satin finish masks wear and reflections as well. Due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
