HEAVY Antique DATED 1903 IVY Rose Cut Diamond Ruby Figural Pendant Exceptional French Medallion 9g 18k Gold Solid
ABOUT:
A special French medallion with delicious gold work depicting Ivy leaves and vines around the open work center which is set with little rose cut diamonds for a glint of sparkle. On the halo are set four pink glowing rubies amidst the engravings reading: "Jrene 1903 Sinaia 24 Aout." I wish I knew its story but clearly commemorating something on that August 24 date in 1903.
Amazing quality with its larger size and very sturdy hand feel. The detail is just gorgeous so a special fabrication.
The ivy motif was popular in olden times in jewelry as it represents life and eternity (essentially immortality), along with clinging attachment. It also was used to express fidelity and friendship.
Found in France with their hallmark for 18k gold on the back.
Any props not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos..
MEASUREMENTS:
32mm in diameter (not including the attached loop or jump ring.
Weight: 9g. Very sturdy high quality hand feel.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Two tiny diamonds or missing but sometimes trying to reset on these old pieces can muddy the details and they are so small that it is not really noticeable with normal wear, you really have to seek it out. The patina is warm which could be brightened if polished but the detail is delicious and most of my buyers prefer original patina. No dings or damage because it is so thick and sturdy. Some abrasions to the rubies especially the top two which have a matte finish on the surface but still a beautiful pink glow.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
