ABOUT:

One of the prettiest mourning bands I have seen in awhile. A beautiful blue center natural sapphire has a flourished outline which carries on all the way around the shank. In old gothic font is a subtle "In Memory Of" written into the middle of the shank. Beautiful buttery glow to the thick gold with wonderful movement and very sturdy hand feel.

As an added bonus, the piece is engraved inside: MP Andrews with the year 1840, I couldn't quite decipher the other dates and letters.

Full hallmarks for 18k gold, London with 1839 date stamp.

Antique box is not included.

Beautiful patina. Some nibbles / abrasions to the sapphire and one tiny chip to the girdle edge not seen by the eye, it still appears complete / square, it's just nibbled around the edges considering age of over 180 years which I see only under magnification. To the eye it has a lovely color, sheen and polish.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8 1/2, the face is 9.5mm north to south and the sapphire is 4mm square. It weighs 6.85 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition. Typical antique diamonds may have some faint inclusions. One of the stones on one end definitely has a few icy spots under strong magnification but this is not visible to the eye. Some wear to a few of the small prongs but none of the stones move. The shank is a bit thin from wear towards the back and has a blunt edge for this reason but it is most noticeable when you take the ring off and run your fingers against the edge. Still wearable. Fun one to wear and stack!
