ABOUT:

I love the versatility and stackability of gypsy bands, especially the chunky ones that also make a statement piece worn alone, but the unique coloring on this one is what stopped me in my tracks. I have found it somewhat uncommon to find Emerald gypsy bands, (I most often find them with just diamonds or sapphires) but to find this one with the two vibrant natural emeralds flanking the center nice size old cut diamond, I feel is quite special. Especially in such a sturdy and substantial 18k gold setting. Nice thickness to domed ring face.

The gypsy ring was incredibly popular during the Victorian era into the early 1900s and its timeless design remains an ever favored and wearable choice for today. This ring is substantial enough to wear alone but also layers well with other pieces. Rings such as this were also a popular choice for men to wear during this period as well so it is a true unisex ring.

French hallmark for 18k gold with goldsmith stamp.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
The ring is a size 9 3/4 on my mandrel.

The center diamond is about 5.5mm and about .6 carat without removing it from the setting. Each emerald is about 5mm.

The ring face is 11mm north south and domes 5mm off the finger.
The ring weight is a very sturdy / heavy 14.65 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique diamond with some small speck inclusions that barely / very slightly eye visible (I can not see them with my eyes which are in their 40s). Overall the stone has a nice clarity and a very nice sparkle with a bright white color - but the stone can read frosty especially under magnification due to the frosted girdle reflecting around through the stone. So it is not the diamond itself that is frosty, but from how the stone was cut and how it is set, where the wide girdle is reflecting the frosty areas. This is most noticeable under magnification but is also visible in the zoomed photos which magnify it more than while wearing. We expect to see a frosted girdle on stones of this age as they did not have the machines and capabilities of cutting the with the perfectly pointed girdles of today's machine cut diamonds, however this one reflects the frost more than others I have had, again I think due to the way it is set flush in the setting. The emeralds also have natural inclusions showing some frosty or cloudy spots and read darker again being set deep into the thick gold ring face. One has three tiny nicks from natural inclusions that carried up to the surface in one small area again only eye visible if you are really looking for it.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) There are no dark spots to the gold, it was just difficult to photograph because it is so shiny and mirrored that it reflects its surroundings including the green trees out the window.
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
